I'm in McKeldin Library's computer lab right now and I found the urge to post rising! ;)

I have Google email alerts for "peter cook" (and "freddie mercury," "kylie minogue," "sarah brightman,"and "madonna," for anyone interested! :) ) and often I get alerts that have nothing to do with the only Peter Cook that matters, like news stories about Christie Brinkley's ex or various people who happen to be named Peter Cook. Add another non-Peter Cook Peter Cook to the list - this time, drug developer Biota's chief executive.

I dunno, it just amuses me how often I get a "peter cook" alert that isn't about the Peter Cook I actually care about. :)

Also, in Peter Cook-related news - [info]arthur2dudley , I'll change the links to your site when I get home from school today! :) Check out [info]arthur2dudley 's Dudley Moore site if you're a fan of Dudley, peeps! :D

Been updating my websites - I rounded up some news and photos on my Dana International page, and did the same for my Peter Cook site. I missed the release of a new Peter Cook-related book, his second wife Judy Cook's Loving Peter: My Life With Peter Cook and Dudley Moore. (That's Judy and Peter in the pic at left.) It came out in August 2008, but this totally passed me by. I don't think I'll be ordering it; I never did finish reading Wendy Cook's memoir because it just got depressing. Fascinating, but sad - apparently he actually hit her and even pushed her down the stairs.

To say the least, this development had threatened to diminish or totally get rid of my adoration for the Cook. I sort of felt like, I don't care how funny he was - it's hard to be a fan of someone who was (allegedly, I guess) abusive. But then it occurred to me that, well, I'm a fan of his work (and his looks, yeah - I'm shallow like that!), and it's totally possible to be a fan of someone's work (and looks, lol) and not the actual person. You know? I'm a fan of Peter Cook the hot comedian, but not real-life Peter Cook. I dunno, it makes sense in my head. :)

So anyways, what brought these deep thoughts about Peter Cook on was finding out about that Judy Cook book. (From a thing Judy Cook wrote here, it looks like Wendy wasn't kidding - Peter Cook was probably not the greatest guy in real life.)

I think I've found my favorite album of the year so far. Bat For Lashes will be releasing Two Suns in April, but it leaked so I had a sneaky listen. I absolutely love it. I wasn't big on her first album - I only liked a few tracks - but Two Suns is wonderful. The music is that perfect blend of uninhibited creativity and oddness that is right up my alley. So Google the album or wait until April, but make sure you do listen to it sometime - you won't be disappointed! :)

I'm on Spring Break right now - my activities consist of sleeping and goofing off on the internets (and in real life, of course). :) Hope everyone is doing well! :D

Also - if you're in need of new icons, I made Bat For Lashes and Peter Cook icons (here), and Madonna, Mylene Farmer, and Lady GaGa icons (here). :)

I'm still alive, and am actually doing pretty OK. Perhaps my newly upped dosage of one of my meds will start having an effect...?

One new development - I'm going to be going back to doing CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) as soon as possible. Turns out my new fantastic psych wants me to start it up again, but with someone new. So we're in the process of deciding upon a new CBT therapist. This is a good thing. I do need the therapy, because meds can only do so much...

Anywho, my family and I will be making our annual trek to Solomon's Island over the weekend (Friday and Saturday, then go home on Sunday afternoon). For as long as I can remember, we've visited Solomon's at some point during October. It's kind of a mini-vacation that doubles as an anniversary celebration for my parents, who were married on Oct 15 aeons ago. ;)

Solomon's is lovely, a very quiet little place with gorgeous views of the Chesapeake and lots of neat shops to visit, plus has a wonderful museum with all sorts of nautical paraphernalia. (My parents LOVE anything to do with the ocean, sailing, that sort of thing - my mom particularly adores lighthouses, so it's neat that SI has a beautiful lighthouse that you can take a tour of.)

So when I get back, I shall post piccies. :)

Speaking of piccies...

I yoinked this from ailcia, but I also saw a post from moribundlust with this meme. :)

o1 - List your top 10 celebrity crushes
o2 - Put all of them IN ORDER of your lust for them
o3 - Say which movie/show it was that hooked you
o4 - Supply photos for said stars
o5 - Tag five people

I won't tag anyone, but if you'd like, please do it! :)

Whew! If you got through that, congrats! ;)

Oh yeah! There was this meme about gay rights going around, where if you truly support gay rights you'll post it in your journal. I can't find it again, so just take my word for it, even without the highly official meme text, that I am a total supporter of gay rights. :)

And that's about it! :) Cheery bye, Scarlett

Bullet points o' doom!
  • Cover of Madonna's forthcoming 'Get Together' single revealed! The Confessions tourbook cover was posted online awhile ago. My thoughts? (Because they matter oh so much.) I like the single cover, but the tourbook leaves a lot to be desired. I would have preferred an outtake from the Confessions album photoshoot. But, meh.
  • Continuing on a Madonna train of thought... I'm listening to the Confessions album for the bazillionth time, and I've decided that 'Isaac' is the lone clunker on the album. IMHO, of course! But it's a pretty dull track, with no development and no snazziness. Which is a shame, considering it samples a guy singing Ofra Haza's mighty 'Im Nin' Alu', which I would have thought would make any song good - but this isn't so.
  • I've added a whopping 329 screen captures of The Hound Of The Baskervilles to my Peter Cook site. There are, of course, gratuitous shirtless Peter Cook photos included. I couldn't help myself. It was a thing of beauty. Which the movie... really isn't. I mean, it's funny! But it's a bit crap. It's a good runaround, though. Entertaining.
  • I added more textures to Brush Fantastic, for anyone interested! :)

Memes!

Some random bullet points o' doom. I don't know why I call them that, I just do!
  • The OCD is... well, I don't know. I have really bad moments, moments of pure anxiety, that feel so awful. And then I have moments where the thoughts aren't as intense or troublesome. But I am feeling somewhat better - it's like, if the meds kick in soon, I'll be able to kick off the last remnants of this obsession.  You see, with HOCD, you become CONVINCED that it's NOT OCD.  My fear is that it's real, that the OCD is just masking something, and that I like the thoughts that I have such anxiety over. But - gasp! - none of that is true. Even as I write that I feel anxiety - "what if it is?" It's so irrational, OCD. I just need to let the meds take effect, and that takes time. That sucks, but, that's how things work with disorders, I guess. Most things take time, anyway. :/ *is impatient*
  • I've updated the Peter Cook gallery with three lovely new pictures contributed by a very kind guy called Chris! Yay! :D
  • Um... that's about it!

Madonna, you so crazy. Buying a house to see her Messiah. Oh, that Madonna!

New SciFi Doctor Who promo, kindly announced by the spangly [info]morgeil.

Ah... let's see. New layout, whoop! I do so love the Peter Cook! Thanks again for voting, guys! :D :D

I've used tonight to just kick back and be lazy, which is something I'm good at! I'm feeling down at the mo', for no real reason. Just feeling depressed about stuff in general. Had a good cry a little earlier.

BUT! Life is still good. :D To prove this, I shall do... *drumroll* a PICSPAM! Because you know you love it! ;)

PICSPAM! )

Scars of HOCD )

OK then! Too much seriousness.

*twiddles thumbs*

Oh yeah! I'll close the poll (I think I can do that, it was a process in itself figuirng out how to make it!) sometime Friday and start working on the layout that night. :) Peter Cook seems to be in the lead now, so get your votes in! Thanks so much to everyone who has voted, this is pretty cool! :D :D

American Idol is on tonight (such a guilty pleasure, that show!), so that'll be neat to see who stays and who goes. Team Taylor, peeps! :D

*twiddles thumbs* Don't actually have much to say tonight! Things are still going OK with school, although... Well, it seems that the medication that saved me from my own head is now affecting me academically. The side effects of it have affected my concentration in a bad way, and has pretty much sunk me into mild depression. I also still have the fidgeting thing that I had when I first started it. BUT - this is much better than being affected by the OCD, you know? In any case, I'm going to see my psychiatrist soon to sort out what to do to help me in school. I hate that I'm having trouble, but it's preferable to the HOCD. Argh.

Right, let's get to some silliness! The sole Peter Cook clip on YouTube.com is this amusing intro he did for a show called Revolver. I do so love the Cook. :D

I'm thinking of changing my layout (same template, but different colors/subject). Who should be the focus of my new layout?

Poll! )
